Questions to ask at teacher conferences.

Here are some questions you may want to ask during your conference with your child's teacher.

• How do my child’s skills and learning rate compare to classmates?
• Is my child completing assignments at the same rate, and with the same quality, as most classmates?
• Are there specific areas where my child needs more practice?
• Are there some activities or experiences that will help my child develop needed skills?
• How does my child get along with classmates?
• When will tests be given? How can I help my child prepare for testing day(s)?
• How will you use the test results to help my child? How can I use the test results to support my child’s learning?
• How does this school use test results—is grade retention or graduation or other types of placements decided on the basis of these test results? What other information is used to make these decisions?
• Are there other services at this school that would benefit my child?
