When do you collect my personally identifiable information?

When you register for premium services, we collect personally identifying information from you, including your credit card number, billing address, and other verifying information. We do not retain your credit card information in our database.

How is my personally identifiable information used?

We do not share your personally identifying information with advertisers or third-party ad servers. We use the information we collect only to process your transaction and to provide you with products and/or services that you request. Although we will use all reasonable efforts to safeguard the privacy of your personal information, transmissions made by means of the Internet cannot be made absolutely secure. We assume no liability for disclosure of data due to errors in transmission or unauthorized third party access.

What other information do you collect and how is it used?

Email Address. We may collect your email address during registration for premium services or when you request information or publications from our Web site. We may use your email address to send you information that you request or to notify you about our products or services. We do not share e-mail information with sponsors, partners, or other parties.

Survey Information. From time to time, we may collect information about you via a survey on our Web site, such as your age, zip code, state, number of children and the grades of any children. This information will not be linked to you personally.

Cookies. We may use cookies to store and track your preferences to provide you with a more personalized user experience. A cookie is a message that is sent to your browser from a Web server and stored on your computer's hard drive. Most Internet sites use cookies. You can set your browser preferences to reject all cookies (see below) but then you may not be able to participate in most customized services, and you may be required to repeatedly type in information in order to participate in various services, promotions, or product offerings. Cookies make your experience easier by it easier for you to use our site by saving your preferences or passwords. Cookies also help us estimate our audience size and determine which areas of our Web site are the most popular.

IP Address. We may also collect IP addresses for the purposes of systems administration or to collect information in aggregate form to our advertisers (e.g. how many visitors logged in to our Web site). An IP address is a number that is assigned to your computer automatically when you use the Internet. When you visit a particular web page on our Web site, our servers log your IP address. Your IP address is not linked to anything personally identifiable.

With whom do you share information?

In general, we will not disclose your personally identifiable information to third parties without your permission. However, specific uses of personal information that vary from this Privacy Policy may be found the in the Terms of Service or privacy policies applicable to a particular service or offering. In addition, third-party sponsors, or third-party Web sites that you link to from our Web site, may administer sweepstakes, contests, promotions, and other programs. Those sponsors' and Web sites' own privacy policies will govern the use of your personal information when you use any such service, sweepstakes, contest, or promotion. Please be on the lookout for terms of service and privacy statements applicable to the services for which you sign up or participate in. Please note that we do not control the privacy policies of advertisers and other third-party Web sites that have banner ads or links on our Web site. We assume no responsibility or liability for these third party policies or the actions of third parties.

We will disclose your personal information when we believe in good faith that any applicable law, regulation, or legal process requires it, or where we believe disclosure is necessary to protect or enforce our rights or the rights of another user. We also may disclose aggregated user statistics in order to describe our services and reach to prospective partners, advertisers, and other third parties. However this aggregate data is not traceable to you specifically.

What are my options to control the use of my personal information?

You may cancel your registration to any of our services and/or request the removal of your personal information from our user records by sending e-mail using the form available at http://www.teachersandfamilies.com/tandfmail.cfm. After you respond, we will remove your personally identifying information from our database, but will keep information for use in aggregate statistics. Residual information may remain in our archives and records, and we may notify you of major changes to our service from time to time. We reserve the right to maintain information on registered users who have violated our Terms of Service or who have had their access to our service blocked in order to detect repeat offenders.

What else should I know about my privacy?

You should be aware that if you voluntarily disclose personal information online in a public area, that information may be collected and used by others. We do not control the actions of our visitors and registered users. If you disclose personal information in a chat room, forum, on your home page, or any other publicly accessible place on the Internet, you do so at your own risk and you understand that your submitted information may be collected and used by others to send you unsolicited messages, advertisements, or for other purposes.

Please remember that protection of your privacy begins with you. You are solely responsible for maintaining the secrecy of any password you use to register, and you should always be careful and responsible whenever disclosing information online.

What about children's personally identifiable information?

We feel strongly about protecting the privacy of children. We encourage children to involve their parents in any interactive activity they participate in online. We will not knowingly collect or use any personal information from children we know to be under the age of thirteen. In addition, we will delete any information in our databases that we are notified originated with a child younger than thirteen years old.

Acceptance of Privacy Policy.

By using the Teachers and Families Web sites and services, you signify your acceptance of this Privacy Policy. This Privacy Policy constitutes a part of the license that grants access to you, and conditions your access of, the services provided on the our Web site. If you do not agree or are not comfortable with any policy described in this Privacy Policy, your only remedy is to discontinue use of our Web site and contact us to request removal of any of your personally identifying information from our databases. We reserve the right to modify this Privacy Policy at any time.
